Establishment :-
Sofi Development Association(SoDA) was established during the
Millennium celebration of Harar Town and the founders are Hararis,
Harar nationals and friends of Harar.  The Association was established
when the said stakeholders visited the Sofi Wereda, Burka Kebele and
witnessed the extreme poverty and the low and desperate living
condition of the community.

Vision : -
To see poverty and problem free Sofi Community that is well developed
and changing the dependence picture of our country.

Mission:-
To change the Sofi Community, to involve them in rehabilitation and
development activities through implementing the principle of
overcoming poverty through work and enable them live a better life.

Objective:-
To develop various projects and supporting the community in areas of
disaster prevention, rehabilitation and development activities.

Updating awareness of the community and involving them in the
Association's efforts and assist them to be extricated from the
current extreme poverty and strive for a better life.

Main Activities:-
To implement the above stated overall objectives, Sofi Development
Association will perform the following major activities:
•    To be engaged in developing of geothermal water, river diversion,
rain water storage, etc… in order to alleviate the shortage of water
which is the basic cause for the community's desperate and extreme
poverty condition and exerting efforts to find water source.
•    To train the community in different income generating activities,
such as, basketry, pottery, poultry, consuming agricultural products,
and enable them get the benefits.
•    To provide pack animals and carts in the form of assistance to
reduce the burden of transporting service in the area.
•    To work in cooperation with the concerned offices in order to
provide adequate basic social services, health, education, sanitation,
etc..to the community.
•    To perform other activities that extricate the community from
problems and enable them live a better life.

Membership:-
Anyone who accepts Vision, Mission and Objective of the Association
can be admitted to the Association.
